Categories: Student Projects Short Description Students develop a sun tracking system designed to enhance the efficiency of solar panels. This innovation holds the potential to provide a viable solution for improving the economic and efficient utilisation of solar panels in residential settings. Detail Description 1. Purposes of the project: The primary objective of this initiative is to empower students in recognizing their competencies while nurturing their skills and attitudes through engaging in scientific projects. Throughout the project, students will receive guidance and mentorship from experts affiliated with the University of Technology in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as CREST Mentors who will assist them in their research endeavors. To ensure a strong educational foundation, we have identified core knowledge and skills rooted in the NGSS standards from the United States and the CREST standards from the United Kingdom. Furthermore, this project is geared towards the development of a sun tracking system designed to enhance the efficiency of solar panels. This innovation holds the potential to provide a viable solution for improving the economic and efficient utilisation of solar panels in residential settings. Additionally, students participating in this project will have the unique opportunity to gain practical experience in working with electrical devices, circuits, and coding, akin to the skills of professional engineers in the field. 2. Participants: In the project, there are: STEM ambassador The STEM ambassador; trained experts from the University, who help students to gain expertise in electronic, embedding code, making flowchart, assembling electrical devices and circuit. The CREST Mentor (from STEMax) Who will help students understand and meet the criteria for BSA for Silver levels and support STEM ambassadors work well with the students. Students The number of students is 2 students in total. They are all from the Saigon South International School in Ho Chi Minh city. 3. Location and timeline: 3.1. Location: The project runs in various locations within Ho Chi Minh city. These include: The Laboratory of Electronic and Electricity Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – National University. In the laboratory, students will conduct experiments on the Solar panel with the Sun tracking system with the modern equipment and the guidance from Experts. Makerlab Innovation Space, students have opportunities working with electrical devices and circuses. STEMax facilities such as rooms for students to work in groups. Students will also work at home and meet virtually after the laboratory time and group time. 3.2. Timeline: The whole project lasts for 3 months from the end of September 2023 to December 2023. Investigating Water Pollution By Zooplankton
Categories: Student Projects Short Description Students approach a current method to investigate water pollution in Tau Hu Canal by zooplankton, and propose a plan to deal with water pollution. Detail Description 1. Purposes of the project: This project aims to help students recognise their competencies, and develop their skills and attitudes through scientific projects. In the project, students will be guided by experts from the University of Science Ho Chi Minh City, and CREST Mentors regarding their research topics. Core knowledge and skills are identified from NGSS standards from the US and the CREST standards from the UK. In addition, the project aims to give young people practical experiences when exposed to a polluted environment. From there, students have the right attitude and behavior towards the environment and have more motivation to find solutions for current and future pollution problems. They also have access to another world they have never seen before – the world of plankton. 2. How Does Project Work Prepare Students for Their Future Careers?
Categories: Edu-Blog The rapid development of AI, robotics, biomedical technology, and new communication platforms is swiftly transforming our lives, continuously reshaping human perception. In this context, to master our careers, lives, and relationships, we need more than the skills currently cultivated in today’s educational institutions. With the rapid shift to remote work, employers and managers are grappling with the challenge of work efficiency, often collaborating with individuals halfway around the globe. The swift evolution of AI, computer science, biomedical technology, materials science, etc., poses a challenge to grasp these technologies and scientific platforms to address increasingly complex global issues. Modern business owners and managers must adapt their management styles to leverage scientific and technological advancements, as well as changes in human awareness and work habits. Conversely, scientists and engineers must not only focus on solving specific problems but also learn how to apply specific solutions to broader contexts or determine the impact of powerful technological trends and global shifts in addressing these issues. In the face of such rapid change, what we learn becomes the foundation for our confidence in acquiring new knowledge and mastering our own work. According to the World Economic Forum [1], the following skills: Analytical Thinking and Innovation Active Learning and Learning Strategies Complex Problem Solving Critical Thinking and Analysis Creativity, Originality, and Initiative Technology Use, Monitoring, and Control Problem Solving and Idea Articulation are among the top 10 skills for 2025, enabling us not only to adapt but also to create opportunities to take charge of our careers, lives, and relationships. Critical thinking and problem-solving have consistently been highlighted in skill reports from 2016 to the present. The best opportunity for students still in the classroom to develop these skills is direct participation in projects that address real and complex problems, demanding high levels of self-management and the application of various skills.
