Investigating Water Pollution By Zooplankton
- November 10, 2023
Students approach a current method to investigate water pollution in Tau Hu Canal by zooplankton, and propose a plan to deal with water pollution.
This project aims to help students recognise their competencies, and develop their skills and attitudes through scientific projects. In the project, students will be guided by experts from the University of Science Ho Chi Minh City, and CREST Mentors regarding their research topics. Core knowledge and skills are identified from NGSS standards from the US and the CREST standards from the UK.
In addition, the project aims to give young people practical experiences when exposed to a polluted environment. From there, students have the right attitude and behavior towards the environment and have more motivation to find solutions for current and future pollution problems. They also have access to another world they have never seen before – the world of plankton.
In the project, there are:
The STEM ambassador; trained experts from the University, who help students to gain expertise in ecology, zooplankton and pollution.
Who will help students understand and meet the criteria for BSA for Silver levels and support STEM ambassadors work well with the students.
The number of students is 3 students in total. They are all from the Tran Dai Nghia Junior High School for the Gifted.
The project runs in various locations within Ho Chi Minh city. These include:
The entire project lasts from 2 to 3 months including a silver project opportunity and some sessions to help students with science skills, technical skills.
